Volkswagen Oxygen Sensor

Volkswagen Oxygen Sensor: Clean Air is the Right Air

Times are hard these days. With fuel prices at a premium, it would be a Herculean task for motorists to save up on gasoline dollars. There may be alternative fuels being made available, but the scarcity of vehicles that can accommodate such inexpensive power sources render them of limited effect. Other car makers produce vehicles that run on alternative gas fuels. But, still, the units are so pricey that it can drain the shallow pockets of the now-impoverished consumers. They are left with no choice but to tighten their belts and make do with what they have.

Good news is, vehicle manufacturers are now leading the push toward an economized fuel consumption. German automaker Volkswagen equips its cars with a fuel-saving oxygen sensor that can stretch the hard-earned money of Volkswagen owners. The Volkswagen Oxygen Sensor not only improves the car's fuel mileage, but also keeps engine performance up to specs. Aside from these cost-cutting features, the Volkswagen Oxygen Sensor makes sure it emits a clean exhaust gas.

The Volkswagen oxygen sensor is a key component of the car's emission control system. It monitors the air/fuel burn mixture to ensure that only an optimized combustion takes place in the engine. Installed inside the exhaust pipe, the Volkswagen Oxygen Sensor constantly checks the exhaust gases (about a hundred times a minute) and relays these data to the engine computer. If the air/fuel mixture is not optimized, it burns poorly and produces less horsepower. Worse part is, the unburned combustion materials stay in the cylinder head and can damage the engine. To keep poor burn material away from the engine, the Volkswagen Oxygen Sensor induces a chemical reaction-generating voltage. This chemical reaction determines whether the oxygen/fuel mixture is rich or lean.

The engine computer uses data from the Volkswagen Oxygen Sensor to adjust the air/fuel ratio. It makes sure that the combustion material can be burn as completely as possible. Using the data, the engine’s computer adjusts the volume of fuel entering the engine. If the oxygen level falls out of normal range, it means that the fuel combustion is not at its peak. This leads to poor fuel consumption, which results in harmful exhaust gases like unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxides.

With a proper air-to-fuel ratio in the burn material, the Volkswagen runs on an efficient engine performance and fuel consumption is improved. As the Volkswagen gets far riding on its economized fuel consumption, your gasoline dollars also gets far and can then be used for the often-neglected car maintenance.
