Volkswagen CV Boot

Volkswagen CV Boot and Sealing up the Chassis Frame

Horsepower and car handling make a Volkswagen a thrill to drive. A close third is that new car smell. Over time the Volkswagen inevitably loses its novelty, and along with this is the gradual wearing out of its maintenance parts. What is next is the stunted horsepower production, and suddenly the Volkswagen isn’t as fun to drive as it has been.

Car maintenance is a given for a flat out Volkswagen performance. It is all the more important when it comes to the Volkswagen’s suspension and drive train parts, for they directly affect car handling. On the road, the Volkswagen has to deal with a great amount of torque to insulate the car chassis, and the passengers, from its effects. An example of that is the way joint assemblies transmit the resulting torque from the up and down motions of the car’s suspension setting. When going over bumps and rough road, the Volkswagen chassis is supported by a network of constant velocity joints to keep car stability on the ground.

Fixed into the car body by a rubber CV Boot, the CV joint assembly keeps the car together when a rough road rears its ugly head. To effectively accommodate the constant pounding that the car usually receives, the CV joint is packed with grease and cushioned on the ends by the CV BOOT.There are two types of CV joints, the ball- and tripod-type joints. Ball-type CV joints are used on the outer side of the drive shaft, where more torques are inflicted on the chassis, and serve as pivot points for the assembly. A Volkswagen CV BOOT seals up the chassis frame as the latter braces for pressures from driving torque.

These pivot points are often the Achilles heel of a car’s drive shaft. It is required that the rubber CV BOOT is properly kept in tip-top shape in order that it keeps up with the joints as they support the car chassis. In most cases, the grease on the CV joints leaks out from the CV BOOT and starts the corrosion of the joints.

To preserve the superior car handling of the Volkswagen, CV BOOT is generally the focus of car maintenance. You can be assured of a comfortable ride if the individual parts of the Volkswagen drive train are kept up to specs. From the rough road and into the city streets, the Volkswagen keeps its car handling stable through a well kept CV BOOT.
